What started as a simple idea in 2018 to help Hydrants of Hope, a local charity in Oklahoma, has grown into something far bigger than I ever imagined. Our female firefighter calendar was never meant to just hang on a wall — it was created to tell stories, build confidence, and open doors for women in the fire service.
Every year, myself and my co-founder, Alexa Reed, are reminded why this project matters. Behind every face is a firefighter balancing shift work, family, training, injuries, self-doubt, and the constant pressure to prove themselves. This calendar gives women a chance to be seen not for fitting a mold, but for breaking it — showing strength, professionalism, grit, and pride in the job.
What excites me most about this new direction is that we are officially expanding onto a global stage and will feature action-based photos. This will be the first and only International Women’s Firefighter Calendar, featuring women from departments around the world. Firefighting may look different from country to country, but the challenges, dedication, and passion are universal. This calendar connects those shared experiences and reminds women everywhere that they’re not alone in this profession.
Expanding the Mission and Global Reach
Proceeds directly support hands-on training and leadership development opportunities for our members, and supports Camp Fierce, our firefighter readiness camp for girls aged 16+ that are interested in the fire service. The calendar helps fund spaces where women can train hard, ask questions, fail safely, and grow — physically, mentally, and professionally.
Health and longevity are common conversations in the fire service, and visibility matters here, too. When women see others who look like them thriving in this career, it changes what they believe is possible. I always say, “If girls don’t know that this is their dream, how can they make it a reality?” Representation builds resilience. Community builds longevity. The calendar is one piece of a much larger mission to keep firefighters — especially women — strong, supported, and connected.
There are many ways to get involved. Female firefighters can apply to be featured, sharing their story and representing their department and country. Brands and businesses that support the fire service can partner as sponsors, and supporters can help simply by purchasing a calendar when it becomes available in September of 2026.
Support the Vision
The 2027 calendar will be released at the International Women in Fire Conference in Austin, Texas.
This calendar is about pride in the job, and pride in each other. It’s not about perfection — it’s about showing up, doing the work, and lifting each other as we climb.
Now, that is something worth hanging on the wall.
