Inside the Jimmy Ellis Training Weekend
Firefighters are invited to attend one of the premier training events of the year as the Jimmy Ellis Firefighter Training Weekend returns to Cranberry Township, Pa., Aug. 14-16, 2026.
Hosted by the Jimmy Ellis Firefighter Foundation and the Butler County Fire Chiefs Association, the annual event continues its mission of providing high-quality, affordable firefighter training while honoring the legacy of Capt. James “Jimmy” Ellis, a lifelong advocate for firefighter education, mentorship, and brotherhood.
The 2026 Training Weekend promises to deliver an exceptional learning experience for firefighters of all ranks and experience levels. Participants will have access to nationally recognized instructors, dynamic classroom presentations, and hands-on training opportunities designed to enhance operational readiness and fireground performance.
This year’s program features an outstanding lineup of some of the nation’s most respected speakers and instructors. Attendees will gain valuable insights into fireground strategy, engine and truck company operations, leadership, decision-making, firefighter survival, and lessons learned from real-world incidents. The knowledge shared during these sessions will provide practical takeaways that firefighters can immediately apply within their own departments.
What to Expect
The weekend will kick off Friday with large group lectures, Saturday and Sunday attendees will participate in hands-on training programs that emphasize skill development, teamwork, and operational excellence. These practical exercises offer an opportunity to learn from experienced instructors while training alongside firefighters from diverse backgrounds and departments.
Beyond the educational opportunities, the Jimmy Ellis Firefighter Training Weekend has become known for fostering camaraderie and “brotherhood” within the fire service.
