I had a fire last Friday that reminded me why this job matters – and what true teamwork looks like. It wasn’t typical. The house was completely overgrown; access and visibility were limited. Our crews worked from isolated vantage points, doing what we could, where we could. Instinct took over. So did trust.

What stood out wasn’t just the outcome – it was the way my crew adapted, leaned on their training, and stayed with it. No hesitation. No ego. Just solid work and clear direction.

This week, more than anything, I’m just feeling grateful – for the outstanding job my crew did, and the way they showed up for each other.
