This quick standing stretch is designed to target the muscles in the back of your shoulders, helping to improve flexibility and relieve tension. It*’*s super easy to do, and we even incorporate a technique to help you deepen the stretch. So, stand up tall, and get started with these simple instructions:

Posterior Shoulder Stretch Instructions

  • Stand tall with your spine straight and feet hip-width apart
  • With your shoulder blades down and relaxed, reach one arm across your chest
  • Place the opposite hand on the elbow to support the arm
  • Gently pull the elbow toward your chest
  • Push the loaded arm against your hand to create contraction as you inhale
  • Relax as you exhale deeper into the stretch
  • Repeat this “contract and relax” pattern for 30 seconds
  • Find your end range and breathe deeply in and out as you relax into this position for another 30 seconds
